Examination guides

All CSAP applicants are required to write and pass the regulatory and technical assessments. To help applicants prepare for the exams, we have put together a series of guides. These provide important information about the examination format and content and include a syllabus and list of suggested reference materials for each part of the examination.

Following are the links to the CSAP Examination Guides prepared for 2023 candidates.

Note, we will update the links with 2024 guidelines as soon as the exam development process finishes and the guidelines are reviewed.

Any changes to the Ministry legislation and guidance documents after August 12, 2024, will not be included in the examinations.

Health Canada documents may be ordered by request to Health Canada here.

The exam item development and exam form assembly are performed according to the American Psychological Association Standards for Education and Psychological Testing. The Standards are recognized worldwide as the criterion to judge whether examinations have been designed to be psychometrically sound and legally defensible.

The CSAP Society Roster qualifying examination is intended to be run on a cost-recovery basis. The fees stated below have been set to recover 100% of the examination development and administrative expenses incurred. Additional expenses will be subsidized by Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals Development funding.
